“Celestial No. 2” is the second painting in a 4-part series honoring the Appalachian night sky. These paintings highlight the vastness and clarity of our corner of the universe emphasized by the lack of light pollution where I grew up. To me, this series means more than the representation and treasure of a clear night sky in Appalachia. They are a reminder of how small we really are, and that our very bones, skin, the oxygen we breathe, the ground we step upon, the hair on our head and the paint on this canvas is all made up of the same material.
