“Celestial No. 1” is one of a four-part series created in the fall of 2020. As I was creating these paintings, I understood where the inspiration behind the deep blues and shining glint of gold came from.
Seeing every star in the sky with perfect clarity is a luxury. Growing up in Appalachia, specifically Burke’s Garden, VA, I knew true quiet. The gentle breeze in the trees, birds calling out to one another in the distance, and farm animals grunting, baa-ing and crowing was the hum of a city; an ecosystem. And tucked within that peace and quiet was the majesty of the land kissing the sky.
